This week's Logistics Bulletin reports on a major restructure at CEVA Logistics. Effective immediately, four Regional Presidents will be responsible for running the integrated businesses in Contract Logistics (CL) and Freight Management (FM). CEVA had operated the CL and FM businesses as separate divisions, with the exception of Asia-Pacific which tested a model integrating the two businesses at country level. Following a successful pilot in that region, the Company has now decided to adopt the integrated model globally.
Elsewhere this week, there are contract wins for NYK Logistics in the UK and Schneider National, NLM and Weber Distribution, all in the US. In DC news, Kuehne + Nagel has taken up operations at a new multi-user facility in Italy, dedicated to the storage and distribution of frozen foods. The DC will initially serve the 800 points of sale of Italian retailers Eurospin, PAM and Billa across northern Italy and strengthens Kuehne + Nagel's logistics leadership in the retail sector, particularly in the growing frozen market.
Complimentary Analytiqa White Paper: Changing European Trade Flows
As the European Union enlarges, its centre of gravity shifts Eastwards. Whilst the economies of the accession countries record lower GDP per capita than their Western European counterparts, they are growing more quickly as they receive greater foreign direct investment in manufacturing, and in the Automotive and Consumer Electronics sectors in particular. With logistics activity being driven by both ends of the supply chain, Analytiqa's latest White Paper can help you understand and assess the opportunities these trends may provide for your business.
