Facility will provide services for the nearby Daimler plant
BLG LOGISTICS has started construction of a logistics facility in the port of Dusseldorf. The logistics centre will be geared to the requirements of the car parts and industrial logistics sector, will be built on a 117,000 m2 site.
The first construction phase encompasses a basic area of 71,000 m2, which will be the site of a logistics facility with three indoor sections and a total of 32,000 m2 of usable floor space as well as an additional 1,000 m2 of office, staff and technical space.
Completion is planned for spring 2016. Altogether, 60,000 m2 of logistics space will be created in two phases of construction.
In future, BLG will primarily carry out logistics services for the nearby Daimler plant in Dusseldorf via the new logistics centre.
Apart from the size and the outdoor area encompassing 5,000 m2, the cornerstones of the logistics facility include the capability of handling long trucks and sideways unloading under catslide roofs. Other features include organisational and technical safety precautions, such as a central reporting office with double barrier system and guidance of the vehicle to the specified gate, all around fencing, video surveillance for buildings and grounds as well as an access control system for all doors and gates.
