Starting to assess and identify both synergies and duplication
DSV and XPO Logistics are making job losses after their respective acquisitions of UTi Worldwide and Con-way. According to local press reports, DSV has made 41 workers in Portland, Ore., US this week as its starts to assess and identify synergies and duplication. The job losses included workers at a technology office supporting an IT system that will not be used by DSV.
Elsewhere, it is reported that XPO Logistics has shuttered seven freight terminals, said to be in remote locations that were part of Con-way, instead choosing to process shipments at larger facilities.
