IT net developers are being funded through the Apprenticeship Levy
Davies Turner & Co Ltd has recruited 12 A-level school leavers and graduates for this year’s trainee programme, including two IT net developers which are being funded through the Apprenticeship Levy.
Even though this is the eighth year for Davies Turner’s apprentice scheme, this represents a new departure for the Company to extend the reach of this course to include its IT Software Development team. The initiative has led to the selection of two trainee software developers, recruited at Davies Turner’s Dartford hub to join this key department.
All the youngsters will learn every aspect of Davies Turner’s business during the two-year apprenticeship, and they can be hopeful that like many of their predecessors, they may progress into management and supervisory roles.
During the Company’s well-structured course, participants spend time in all surface freight and logistics divisions, in addition to gaining an overview at Davies Turner Air Cargo, central administration, IT and the accounts department.
Davies Turner achieves an excellent retention rate from each annual intake, not least due to a mentoring system and determination to offer trainees interesting and responsible career opportunities at the end of their apprenticeship.
Davies Turner is also a founding member of the British International Freight Association’s ‘Trailblazer’ employer group which was given the go ahead to develop the standard for a specific International Freight Forwarding Operative apprenticeship back in April of this year.
