Laying the groundwork for further growth in the Hungarian market
By the end of 2014, all DB Schenker Logistics offices and facilities in the Budapest region will be consolidated at one new site. In the future, land transport, air and ocean freight, as well as contract logistics and trade fair forwarding, will then be located under one roof in the Hungarian capital.
The move represents the conclusion of the gradual process, begun in Hungary in 2010, of integrating all freight forwarding areas into Schenker Kft., Budapest. Until now, activities were partially managed in independent joint ventures with the Masped Group.
The new corporate office of Schenker Kft. Is located in Prologis Park in Budapest-Szigetszentmiklós, where DB Schenker leases a freight forwarding terminal with some 30,000 m2 of space. The transhipment hall and the logistics hall meet the strictest requirements for security according to TAPA and for hygiene according to HACCP.
The Company also has the availability of its own ADR warehouse for hazardous goods. A total of 400 employees will work at the new terminal in early 2015 when relocation is complete.
Consolidation of all employees in the Budapest area at the new site is beginning during an important anniversary year for DB Schenker in Hungary. After founding his forwarding company in Vienna in 1872, Gottfried Schenker opened the first foreign branch office in Budapest in 1874 140 years ago. Schenker Kft. Was founded following the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1992 and currently has a workforce of approximately 400 employees at eight locations.
