Hellmann UK reports growth in air freight for second consecutive quarter
While shipment tonnage grew, the actual shipment count dropped
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK has released its Q2 results, revealing a 21.0% increase in gross profit in its air freight product from last year, driven mainly by import volumes and export project moves. Costs have risen 6.1% since the same period last year to deal with the size of the consignments, which have increased by 16.0%, boosting gross profit per order.
The Q2 results revealed that while shipment tonnage grew, the actual shipment count dropped, suggesting a move towards larger consignments. This trend reflects newfound confidence in the retail market, which seems to be moving towards more widespread use of air freight.
New business wins have also been very fruitful for the Company this year, in particular the Foreign and Commonwealth Service contract.
UK economic growth for Q2 has been revised up to 0.9% (from 0.8%) by the Office For National Statistics (ONS), whilst business investment grew 11.0% in Q2 compared with the same period last year.
