Expanding its strategic options and shaping a growing market
Hermes delivery service in Germany has acquired a 28.5% stake in LieferFactory GmbH. The Company offers ‘Liefery’, a same-day or time-specific delivery service via 2,500 couriers in over 50 German cities. Liefery combines the German word for delivery (LIEFERung) and delivery. This collaboration will extend the range of package-related services Hermes offers commercial shippers.
Hermes plans to offer ‘Same-Day Service Powered by Liefery’ to the commercial shippers and online traders the firm already serves. Notably, within the regions served, collection and delivery can be accomplished within 90 minutes or at a defined time on the same day. Hermes clients will be able to order expedited delivery both online and offline.
If Liefery is displayed as a shipping option online, goods will be shipped via Liefery from the trader's closest branch. For store-based retailers, Liefery delivery can be ordered at the counter. Then, customers can track the delivery status of their purchase at any time using shipment tracking.
More and more customers want to schedule a specific delivery time for their distance-trade products, especially technology, sporting goods and fresh produce. By investing in LieferyFactory GmbH, which is already operating successfully in the marketplace, Hermes is expanding its strategic options and shaping a growing market from a leading position.
LieferFactory GmbH was founded in 2014 as an independent business in the time:matters group. Its clients include notable companies such as SportScheck, mymuesli and Mövenpick Wein Deutschland. The Liefery network currently focuses on about 50 metropolitan areas, where more than 2,500 couriers make deliveries around the clock.
