Nissan opens Northern India logistics centre 17 July 2015

Configuring supply chain to cut delivery-lead times by up to nine days

Nissan has formerly opened a new regional parts distribution centre at Luhari in Gurgaon District, India. The 9,060 m2 facility, which employs 57 people, will reduce delivery-lead times to Nissan customers in Northern India by up to nine days and help dealers decrease the amount of space reserved for spare parts.

The regional parts distribution centre significantly strengthens the Company’s after sales operations in north India. It will comprise of separate office and canteen blocks and a material storage area that includes heavy duty racking, shelving racks, stillages and trolleys, while state-of-the-art forklifts and reach trucks will be used for parts handling.

In addition, Nissan has also launched a new, multi-depot software system to ensure smoother parts transfer and order completions. This, combined with the new facility, will allow faster and more frequent deliveries, increasing convenience for customers.

Nissan Motor India has achieved consistent improvement in its parts availability with a fill rate of 97.0%, amongst the best in the Indian automotive industry.
