General Motor ceases third shift production operations at Spring Hill
According to local press reports, Ryder Supply Chain Solutions is set to make a number of employees, such as forklift drivers and other workers redundant. The move is in response to General Motor's plans to cut up to 680 jobs of its own at its Spring Hill, US, plant as it ceases third shift production operations. General Motors is reducing production of the GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5 crossover SUV models made at the sport-utility vehicle plant.
Ryder Supply Chain Solutions said the job cuts would be effective on Nov. 22. That would coincide with the last day of work for the employees to be affected by General Motors' own planned layoffs in Spring Hill.
