Expands partnership to include management of inbound freight
Transplace has announced the continuation of its twelve year partnership with USG Corporation through a full contract renewal. The building products company will continue to leverage Transplace’s managed services solution and logistics technology for all domestic transportation activities as well as international export freight management, and now expand its partnership to include the Company’s inbound supplier freight.
USG products are used in everything from major commercial developments and residential new home construction to simple home improvement projects. For several years, USG has employed Transplace to help optimise the Company’s supply chain execution through capacity sourcing, transportation planning, execution optimisation and freight movement, which now includes inbound shipments into the manufacturer’s facilities located throughout North America.
By expanding the partnership to include the management of inbound freight from a large, diverse supplier base to manufacturing sites, USG is looking to Transplace to provide greater control over this critical material flow.
Transplace’s proprietary TMS has enabled USG to effectively optimise its transportation network, view shipments in real-time and reduce transportation costs. In addition, the use of business intelligence has enabled Transplace to derive meaningful insights in order to drive increased operational efficiencies into USG’s supply chain. Transplace continues to identify areas of opportunity within USG’s supply chain and effectively develop strategies to better position them to achieve heightened cost and service performance improvements.
