Supporting the growing Europe – India, India – Asia and India – Australia trade lanes
VISA Global Logistics (VGL), Australia’s largest privately-owned, international logistics company has established a joint venture with Navigators Logistics during three consecutive launch events in India’s New Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. The new company is formally called Navigators VISA Global Logistics or NVGL. The partnership was founded on the amalgamation of two like-minded companies that share an unwavering commitment to technology, quality, best practice and a customer-centric approach.
The joint venture combines VGL’s 35 years and Navigators’ 10 years of knowledge and expertise in global logistics and improving supply chains across industries. Through 15 owned and operated offices, NVGL is uniquely positioned to handle door to door global transport of goods on the growing Europe – India, India – Asia and India – Australia trade lanes.
The joint venture illustrates VGL’s strategy to establish a permanent presence in India to benefit from the country’s growing trade. For the past three years, India's economy has been recognised as the world's fastest growing major economy surpassing China. Its economy has been one of the largest contributors to global growth over the last decade, accounting for about 10.0% of the world’s increase in economic activity since 2005, while GDP per capita in PPP (purchasing power parity) terms is today three times as high as in 2000. By both nominal and PPP GDP, India is currently ranked in 6th place behind the US (1st), China (2nd), Japan (3rd), Germany (4th) and UK (5th). By 2022, India is forecasted to climb up to third place behind China and the US. This growth is driven by India’s young population, corresponding low dependency ratio and healthy savings and investment rates.
As India progressively integrates into the global economy, the country’s population and buying power will be a driving factor in global trade. VGL has already seen a significant increase in containers moved in and out of India in the past five years, and this trend is showing no signs of slowing down.
With the addition of NVGL into VGL’s growing global presence, the Company now has 51 owned and operated offices in 15 countries, over 800 staff and a robust agents network in over 150 countries.
