Acquires transport and warehouse operators
According to local press reports, Wal-Mart Canada has acquired transport operator Translogic Express Dedicated Inc. (TEDI) and distribution centre operator SCM. The two companies have both worked with the retailer as Wal-Mart service providers in the past. It is anticipated that Translogic Express Dedicated will continue to trade under its existing name, while SCM will be rebranded. Both companies will be operated as wholly owned Wal-Mart subsidiaries.
The retailer is seeking to take best practices from its international operations around the world and bring them into Canada. By bringing the acquired companies in-house, this makes the process easier to achieve.
