NFT and Nom join forces in UK dairy distribution

10 February 2010

Contract awarded for nationwide distribution of yogurt-based products

NFT has been awarded a major new contract to supply Nom Dairy’s products throughout the UK. The contract, which encompasses all Nom’s yogurt-based products, will run initially for a minimum of three years. The contract was awarded in August 2009 and fully integrated in January 2010. NFT’s total logistics capability is delivering the portfolio of over 50 SKUs to all major retailers and foodservice wholesalers within the UK.

Nom has ambitious plans to dominate the UK yogurt market, and therefore a dynamic and responsive logistics partner is vital to its success. Consumer demand for yogurt remains high - they desire a premium quality, great tasting product made from natural ingredients. Nom states that the market has risen in value by 7.4% year-on-year, to an annual total of £1.1 billion.

Austria-based Nom Dairy has invested over £60.0 million in its modern UK plant in Telford, Shropshire. Based on 24 acres of land, of which only 40.0% is currently used, Nom aims to increase production to 500 million units of yogurt-based product within three years, with further plans to double that figure within five years.

This contract announcement is the third major win for NFT within the last 6 months, cumulatively worth over £2.5 million of new business.
