DB Schenker launches dedicated IT Shared Services Centre in Nanjing

First of its kind globally for DB Schenker
Schenker (Asia Pacific) Pte has officially opened its first ever IT Shared Services Centre (SSC) at the Jiangsu Software Park in Nanjing. The SSC occupies more than 1,400 m2 and will primarily pool IT-functions such as application development, maintenance, application operations, information and communication technology infrastructure and help desk, for the DB Schenker Asia Pacific organisation and several countries in the region.
The €1.5 million project investment for the SSC is expected to yield a project payback in less than three years through greater cost efficiencies and economies of scale.
The SSC has the potential to become a pilot for global use to deliver more efficient and standardised processes based on global standards.
Schenker are optimistic that it will provide a greater competitive advantage, both to it and for customers, as it calibrates a more robust and responsive IT Services structure.
